Nutrition
Nutritional requirements change as a person gets older, because the elderly use a lot of medication their absorption, excretion and utilization of nutrients can be affected. Growing children have different nutritional needs to that of adults.1 Nutritional requirements of deer are generally separated into five categories: protein, energy, minerals, vitamins and water. Research on deer nutrition has primarily focused on protein, energy and minerals (phosphorus and calcium).2
Weights will vary with each producer, but the average cow weight is between 250 and 300 pounds. Bulls will average between 350 and 450 pounds.3 Weight categories were selected to represent a range in mature sizes that reflect most of the beef cattle found in the Northern Great Plains. 4 Weight loss was the least of his problems. 5
Cat food is one of the most important expenses of feline guardianship, next to veterinary care. It is important also to note that a nutritios cat food diet can eliminate or delay veterinary expense for a number of serious medical conditions.11 Cats also have several physiologic adaptations that reflect their expected low CHO carbohydrate intake . These specific differences do not mean cats cannot use starch.12
Potassium is primarily absorbed in the large intestine. Under aldosterone stimulation the last part of the large intestine can reverse the normal direction of potassium movement Edmonds or at least prevent its reabsorption.13 Potassium ions are necessary for the uptake of phosphate. 14
Dietary guidelines can't help you determine how much food your tween needs to consume at any given point in time, and you shouldn't try to figure it out. Allow him to eat as much as he wants at meals or even in between, but limit the selection of available foods and ensure that they are all healthy choices.18Dietary fats, mainly derived from animal fats and the seed oils of various plants, provide the most concentrated source of energy in the diet. They supply essential fatty acids that cannot be synthesized in the body and serve as carriers for important fat-soluble vitamins.19 Diet plays an important role in the health of pregnant women and their babies. To meet the increased demand for protein, vitamins and minerals, most expectant mothers should eat an additional 200 to 300 calories of nutritious foods a day.20
Protein is needed for growth and to help the body repair itself. Getting enough calories can help the body grow, heal, and prevent weight loss.22 Protein plays a crucial role in a dog's diet and is responsible for health, tissue growth and repair. Meat meal is the preferable, highly concentrated form of protein you'll want to see in the ingredients list, as the water has been removed and only the digestible nutrients remain.23 Proteins are chemicals made from amino acids and form a major component of muscles and tissues. They form part of enzymes that metabolize food into energy and hormones that modify biological functions.24
Protein is the building block for the body. It is very important for bodybuilders who are looking to add lean mass.25
Calcium is another necessary nutrient. If you thought your body was drained of calcium when you were pregnant, you’re in for a shocker when you’re breastfeeding.26 Calcium silicate and gypsum fared reasonably well with moderate levels of application, whereas calcium hydroxide at the two lowest levels gave better results than the high level for all seasons. 27
Feed passes through the stomach and small intestine relatively quick and any un-digested feed is passed on to the hind gut where it is broken down through a fermentation process. Since the rate at which feed passes through the small intestine directly affects feed efficiency (nutrient absorption), it is important that quality, bio-availability and balance of feed be optimized.30 Feeding children well is one of the responsibilities of being a childcare provider. 31
Increased temperature, humidity, sunshine, and wind velocity may decrease energy requirements. Shearing mohair from Angora goats and pashima from Cashmere goats decreases insulation and results in increased energy needs (at least in colder environments).53 Increased requirements occur in patients with gastrointestinal effluents. The excretion of these minerals in various effluents can provide an indication of the additional requirements.54
